Cup Point Solid

Cup Point Solids are designed for use on large or dangerous game where deep penetration is required.

How They Work

Cup Point Solids are designed for heavy and dangerous game hunting situations where the desired penetration is between that of a Flat Point Solid and that which would be achieved by a Semi-Spitzer. The monolithic construction ensures the deep straight-line penetration of a solid, while providing a small degree of expansion to create a larger wound channel with more tissue damage than a non-expanding solid.

Design Features

Construction – Cup Point Solids are lathe turned on high precision Swiss style CNC machines for ultimate tolerances. They are cut from high quality copper bar stock, and are uniform throughout for consitent performance.

Meplat – The meplat has a shallow cavity that allows a limited amount of expansion. Regardless of impact velocity, the meplat will not continue to expand beyond slightly over calibre.

Driving Bands – 'Smart Band Technology' utilises multiple thin driving bands. These not only ensure a positive gas seal with virtually no barrel fouling, but also reduce chamber pressures by effectively halving the bearing surface, to greatly reduce friction.

Range of Weights – Cup Point Solids come in a range of big bore calibres from .358 to .510 and come in different weights within most of the available calibres.

Note: Because these projectiles are of monolithic construction (solid copper), they are longer than jacketed lead core projectiles of the same weight. As such, they may require a faster twist than the same weight lead core projectile. Please check the Technical Data Sheet to ensure that the projectiles you are interested in are compatible with your rifle's barrel twist rate.
